It is like a household name on the Aert van der Goesstraat and even in the rest of the Hague: toy shop De Kikkerkoning has been around for more than 20 years. Anja began about 23 years ago selling second hand toys and clocks from her father in a small warehouse in the Van Loostraat. When the premises on the Aert van der Goesstraat became available Anja took the challenge to enlarge the shop and extend
her range of products. Now the Kikkerkoning has grown into one of the best-known specialist toy shops in the Hague and surrounding areas.
At first customers would buy toys for their children and now they return with their grandchildren and show surprise at seeing Anja, the original owner. The shop has a unique range of high quality products, including wooden toys. According to an enthusiastic visitor on the Face book page: “our new address for the grandchildren, original items…… which made us very greedy in this richly decorated shop”.
De Kikkerkoning has even been nominated as “the nicest shop in The Hague”. Other
customers say that you will always find the perfect (baby) gift, always beautifully
The shop has a nostalgic atmosphere. For a short time it takes the enthusiastic
customers back to their own childhood. Memories return and are shared with other
customers and the staff at De Kikkerkoning, generating nice and sometimes moving
Does everything stay the same? Certainly not! The already vast assortment is
changed and extended constantly. Anja is always looking for unique products for her customers. She does this with pleasure and passion, as she has been doing for two decades.
